The Greater Cincinnati World Affairs Council is a non-partisan organization that builds global understanding and promotes international awareness through education, information and exchange of people and ideas. We work with government, companies, and cultural and educational bodies.
Our over 1,600 dedicated supporters include individual, corporate, civic and academic members, contributors, and volunteers who host visitors at home. Our dedicated staff and volunteers help to build international good will, with inestimable benefits for security and prosperity, locally and worldwide.
We began our educational, conferencing, and policy work in Cincinnati in 1923, and form part of the national World Affairs Councils of America. Since the International Visitors Council (IVC) was launched 1961, we have welcomed visitors to the region from over 100 countries, and we are affiliated with the National Council for International Visitors. In 2009, the IVC program welcomed over 150 foreign business, community and educational leaders, many of whom stayed with local families.Today, we run a vigorous education program, and welcome many distinguished foreign guests to the City. We are aware through their eyes of our rich heritage. We have much to teach, much to learn, and many social and economic advantages to gain from international connections in governance, education, consumer products, technology, health, freedom, communications, human rights, political leadership, local economic development, and many other areas.
