Dec. 10, 2011 -- GCWAC Academic WorldQuest
The Greater Cincinnati World Affairs Council (GCWAC) held its Academic WorldQuest (AWQ) on December 10, 2011 from 9am-1pm at Northern Kentucky University. Teams from Madeira High School and Summit Country Day School battled in teams of four, through ten rounds of questions on internationally focused topics ranging from U.S. Energy Policy to China to Child Health. After all the points were tallied the team ‘Summit Blue’ from Summit Country Day School was deemed the winner! The students of ‘Summit Blue’ included: Mark Samaan, Brian Rouillard, Ty Wahlbrink and Adam Chow. They each received a $200 scholarship and will travel to Washington D.C. in April to represent the Cincinnati region at the National AWQ Competition!
Second place went to the team ‘Kings of Leon’ from Madeira High School. Each member received a $150 scholarship. Third place went to the team ‘Silver Knights’ from Summit Country Day School. Each member received a $100 scholarship.
